Using SkyVault files with other apps

SkyVault is integrated with other iOS apps so that you can open SkyVault files in other apps.

You can:

  • Use Open inOpen in... in the SkyVault file preview and choose a compatible app to open a file in.
  • Open a SkyVault file directly in another app, for example, Microsoft Word.
  • Add a SkyVault file to another app.
Note: To open a SkyVault file from another app you need to have logged in to iCloud in your device Settings, and be using iOS 8.0 or later.

To open a SkyVault file directly in another app:

Note: The instructions might differ slightly for different apps.

1. Open the app you want to open a SkyVault file in, for example Microsoft Word.

2. Tap Open then More.

3. Tap Locations then More.

4. Switch on the SkyVault option and tap Done.

5. Tap Locations again. Now that you've switched on the SkyVault option it'll be available each time you tap Locations.

7. Select SkyVault.

8. Select a SkyVault account or Local Files.
Tip: Enter your SkyVault login details if requested.

9. Browse to the file you want to add and select it.

You can now edit the file and when you're done select save and it'll be saved back to SkyVault.
Note: Microsoft Office apps support save back, but not all apps do, so check that the app your using does support this feature. If not then you'll need to upload the saved document to SkyVault.

To add a SkyVault file to another app:
Note: The instructions might differ slightly for different apps.

1. Open the app you want to add a SkyVault file to.

2. Tap the More or Options icon and select Add Files.

3. Select SkyVault.

4. Select a SkyVault account or Local Files.
Tip: Enter your SkyVault login details if requested.

5. Browse to the file you want to add and select it.

The file will be added to the app.
