Syncing content

If you have a SkyVault in the Cloud Enterprise Subscription account and are using SkyVault 2.0, then you can sync files and folders from SkyVault 2.0 to SkyVault in the cloud.
Note: Check with your SkyVault administrator to find out if you have an Enterprise Subscription account.

You can initiate a content sync from SkyVault 2.0 only, you can't initiate a sync from SkyVault in the cloud.

When content is synced from SkyVault 2.0 to SkyVault in the Cloud, it shows in the Document Library just like any other content, and the Synced synced icon indicates that it's been synced. Files or folders that are synced because they are in a folder that was synced display the Indirectly Synced indirectly synced icon. You can click these icons to view sync details.

Note: Content that is synced will automatically be set to version 1.0, regardless of the version in SkyVault 2.0.

You can work with synced content just as you would with any other content. Content changes and important properties such as the item name and title are synced back to the SkyVault 2.0 version. Comments made in SkyVault, version changes, and more minor properties are not synced back to the SkyVault 2.0 version.

If you add files to a synced folder then these will be synced back to the folder in SkyVault One.

Tasks and workflows

Files can also be synced from SkyVault 2.0 when a workflow is created. A workflow can generate a task for one a more SkyVault in the Cloud users. Files synced in this way also display the Belongs to Workflow icon. Once you've completed a task then the content will be subject to the rules that were set when the workflow was created:
  • Keep content synced on cloud: Task items will remain synced to the cloud.
  • Keep content on cloud and remove sync: A copy of the task items will be left on the cloud but the sync will be cancelled.

  • Delete content on cloud and remove sync: The content will be removed from the cloud and the sync cancelled.

Deleting and Unsyncing

A sync can only be cancelled from SkyVault 2.0, regardless of whether the content was synced as part of a task or not.

The following options are available in SkyVault 2.0 when you set up the sync:
  • Content can be deleted on cloud selected - Content can be deleted on the cloud site, but the on premise version will be unaffected.
  • Content can be deleted on cloud not selected - Content can only be removed from the cloud site by unsyncing on the on premise site.
  • Content can be deleted on cloud and Delete content on premise if it is deleted on cloud both selected - Deleting content on a cloud site will also delete the original content on the on premise site.
