SkyVault Analytics FAQs

There's a lot going on in SkyVault Analytics, so if you have any questions then check the list below.

A message is shown saying there's too much number crunching

This can happen if you set up a filter that excludes a small number of items from a very large group of items. For example, if you have 10,000 users, and select to exclude just one of them, then the system can encounter problems. Instead try using the include option for that one user in the filter.

Site Report couldn't be saved without a filter and parameter

When creating a Site Report, you need to specify a site or sites.
Include a Site ID field in the report, then click Analytics Select Report Type icon next to the Site ID field. Click Filter and select one or more sites, and enter a Parameter Name of "site".

The whole report doesn't fit on the dashlet

Some of the reports contain a lot of information and / or have long labels. If this is the case for any of your reports then add them to a wide dashboard column to make sure that they display clearly.

The custom report screen shows as a blank screen

This can be caused if your SkyVault Administrator has SkyVault and the underlying Pentaho server set up on different servers.

To solve the issue you need to check your browser's security settings. If accepting third-party cookies is switched off then you should add server.com/pentaho/ (you can check with you SkyVault Administrator that this is the correct server name) as an exception and make sure that your cookie policy is set to Allow.

I uploaded lots of files but they're not represented in the activity report

When you upload five or more files at once whether it's using drag and drop, or another method, SkyVault Analytics recognizes it as a single activity. Files uploaded by WebDAV aren't recognized at all by SkyVault Analytics unless your SkyVault Administrator has enabled the required settings.

If this is causing problems with your reports then ask your SkyVault Administrator if they can resolve the issue, by following Troubleshooting SkyVault Analytics.

I have files in a site that aren't being picked up by reports

When files are copied or moved from one site to another, they don't get picked up by SkyVault Analytics. For content creation to be included in reports it must be added directly to a site, either by upload or by creating it in the site. If the initial creation isn't included, then subsequent activity such as downloads, previews, likes, and comments is still included in reports.

Filtering by process state only has the Completed state available

When you filter the Process State field, the Select from a list screen only displays the state of Completed. To filter by other states you need to select the Match a specific string option, and enter the state that you want to filter by, for example, Active.

"Clear Selection" doesn't work

If you want to clear a selection (Keep Only or Exclude) you've made then there are two different methods, depending on whether you're looking at a report on a dashboard, or you're a Business Analyst user in the custom reports screen:
  • Dashboard - Click Refresh icon in the dashlet to clear the selection
  • Custom reports screen - Click Add filter icon then x to remove the filter.
