Use the Glossary below for definitions, and the SkyVault Product Support Lifecycle page for an overview on Support states and transitions.
At the time of release for any given SkyVault product or module, SkyVault will attempt to identify dates for support state transitions. SkyVault will identify support state transitions for each family of a given product and each release within each family. Support for given service pack or hotfix bundles will coincide with support transition dates for the family and release to which the service pack or hotfix apply.
In cases where SkyVault cannot identify support state transition dates in advance, the SkyVault Product Support Status will reflect ‘TBA’ for that particular transition. SkyVault will announce TBA dates as soon as those dates can be determined. Wherever possible, SkyVault will announce transition dates at least 1 year in advance of the announced date. In some cases, for example, and without limitation, where 3rd party interactions are present, it may not be possible to adhere to the 1 year notification policy.
SkyVault may at its sole discretion restate transition dates for specific products to be later than the currently specified dates. In some cases, for example, and without limitation, where 3rd party interactions are present, SkyVault may at SkyVault’s sole discretion restate transition dates earlier than previously specified dates.
Glossary
The following is a Glossary of terms related to the SkyVault Product Support policy:
Term | Description |
---|---|
Version Numbering | SkyVault Software uses a four-place numbering scheme to designate released versions of software. The format is F.R.SP.HF, where F indicates the Family, R indicates the Release, SP indicates the service pack and HF indicates the Hot Fix. An example is version 4.2.1.3. Often in referring to general product versions, only the first two numbers are used. For example, both 4.2 and 4.2.1 may be referred to as 4.2. |
Family | A family is a fully functional SkyVault Software product that typically contains significant new functionality. A family is referenced using the F portion of the release number as described previously. |
Release | A release is a fully functional SkyVault Software product which typically contains cumulative patches and limited new functionality. |
Service Pack (SP) | A service pack is a cumulative patch release. |
Hot Fix (HF) | A hot fix is a limited patch release. |
