Measure fields are numerical and are used to quantify the other fields that are in a
report.
For example, if a report contained fields for Month and Site ID, and you added Number of File Types as the Measure field, then the report would show the quantity of different file types available in each site on a month by month basis.
Tip: In the Fields panel on the custom reports screen you can hover over a field to
find out more about it. An information box pops up with a Tell me more
option.
When measure fields have been added to the Layout panel you can click their button to show a list of further options. These are different from the options available for standard fields.
Option | Description |

Column Name and Format | Rename the field in this report only, and change the numbering format, for example from a percentage to $ currency. |
Conditional Formatting | Add specific color schemes to the report. |
User Defined Measure | Create you own specifically defined measure which will then be added to the report. |
Greater/Less Than, Equal To, etc | Filter fields based on quantity, see Filtering fields in Analytics reports. |
Top 10, etc... | Filter fields based on quantity, see Filtering fields in Analytics reports. |
Sort Values Low - High | Sort the report numerically. |
Sort Values High - Low | Reverse the sort order. |
Subtotals (Sums, Averages, etc) | Where available you can select to show subtotals for the field in the report. |
Tell me about | Displays more information on the field. |
Hide from Chart | Hides the field from the report. |
Swap Chart Measure | Swap round the measures fields in the chart. If you've hidden fields from the chart they can be swapped with measures that are still showing. |
Remove from Report | Removes the field from the report the same as dragging a field to the trash can. |
